COMMONWEAL

It was Jenifer Altman's intention that the Foundation provide major core program support for Commonweal, the health and environmental research institute where she worked during the last years of her life, for as long as Commonweal remained, in the judgement of the Board of the Foundation, a significant and viable organization contributing to her interests in human health, education and the environment. Commonweal, founded in 1975, has ten programs supporting work with at- risk children and young adults, adults with cancer and health professionals who work with people with life-threatening illness, and global environment and environmental health issues. Support from JAF represents approximately 25% of Commonweal's budget.
