IN THE SERVICE OF LIFE PROGRAM

On occasion, the Jenifer Altman Foundation presents "In the Service of Life" grants of $5,000 to individuals who have made significant contributions to human health or the health of the earth. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals in this category.


CAROLYN BROWN, Ph.D., COMMONWEAL
For over 30 years, Carolyn Brown has worked with children and young adults, giving them hope to lead lives of promise and dignity and saving thousands from juvenile halls, prisons and psychiatric wards.


SHANNON MCGOWAN, Ph.D.
Shannon McGowan is co-founder, with Harold Benjamin, of the Wellness Community, founder of the Bay Area Wellness Community, and a longtime Co-Leader of the Commonweal Cancer Help Program.


VIRGINIA VEACH, Ph.D., Director, the Ting-Sha Cancer Help Program
In recognition of Virginia Veach's services in the Cambodian refugee camps, her longstanding support to the Cambodian refugee community in Northern California, her co-founding role in the Commonweal Cancer Help Program and her founding role in the Ting-Sha Cancer Help Program.
